Description:

The Oakdale Discovery Center, a qualifier for the Generation Green program, offers a wide variety of nature displays and an extensive collection of books. Oakdale's Parks and Recreation Department provides quality recreation and environmental education programs at this facility and at various parks throughout the City to meet the leisure needs of the community. The Department offers a wide variety of fun, interesting recreational and social programs and events for toddlers to senior citizens.

Oakdale Nature Preserve, a 220 acre passive outdoor recreation area surrounds the Discovery Center. The park offers a 28 acre lake and an abundance of prairie land and mature trees. The park also includes paved hiking and biking trails, groomed cross-country ski trails, tennis courts (4), playground area, picnic shelter, an observation dock overlooking the lake, and a large parking area at the Discovery Center.
